Ravishing

Perfect, pink, pretty.
Imperfect, purple (her true favorite color), pouty.

This, my third child, my second girl, stunning and serious soul.  She, the one who has most challenged me.  Daily, her charm astounds me.  Daily, she perplexes me.

To be a mother is to know this unconditional love, to love through imperfections, to see imperfections but still ravishing beauty.

This child was the one who had me at the keyboard, googling autism because she at first wouldn't smile, then wouldn't laugh.  She was late to walk.  She was not much for cuddling.

Today, we snuggle and she loves abundantly my heart as I do hers.  She laughs loudly at times but still rarely. She's just not as easily amused as the rest of us.  Watching Mr. Popper's Penguins she didn't understand why the audience would chortle when 'Nimrod' bumped into a wall.  "He's a cute penguin, Mommy," she said sadly.

This is my child who scares me to death when she talks of Heaven because she can't wait until she 'gets' to go there.  I tell her that this won't be for a very, very long time.

She is fearless in many ways too and at only four seems to have a faith I don't.

Imperfect?  We all are.  But she's perfect to me.

  3. wow! she is perfect to me too dear :) you write from your heart that leaves me speechless. I'll just thank you very, very much for sharing your beautiful daughter and your heart with us all and specially joining 'Earth Wonders' with it. what a Life lesson. I believe in Angels and I believe when we were children we could see them and remember where we came from, don't be scare about her talking about Heaven. she is probably remembering things we've forgotten and unfortunately she will eventually forget as well. xoxo

  4. Ana, I've thought this, too; how close children are to the heart of God. How they seem to see things we cannot.

  7. This is why we are told to come to the Father as little children. They have simple faith.

  8. It is a beautiful testimony of love. God brings people together for a reason. She is a perfect little girl with the perfect mother to help her grow. Heaven and angels talk to the innocence of childhood, she remembers me in a way. She teaches you something every day I am sure, cause her heart is full love.

  9. I love the way you write because of the emotions and the vulnerability you share with your audience. I am convinced it asks for courage to do that and I adore you for doing it. These photos are sooo cute and so looks your daughter to me. Thanks for sharing this wisdom and this beauty! Enjoy the precious moments with your little lady!

  10. Thank you all for your kind comments. Interestingly, I'm learning about the Romantic Period in Literature right now. The Romantics believed greatly, in the child's ability to be close to God and Heaven. I do need to apologize and clarify. My daughter is not autistic. There was a time I worried she might be but she was just a late bloomer and a more serious child than my other two. I'm sorry for any confusion I caused.
