When You Need To Rest

Rest.  This is a hard concept for me because I am one who thinks that there are not enough minutes in a day.  But my body argues with me.  I have always required much in the area of rest so maybe, this is why I fight it.  My children could tell you that when I am tired, I am not the nicest mommy.  But God teaches and reminds.  And today, after sleeping in too late though I did not stay up too late, I felt my morning off to not a great start.  Breakfast was served late, school started late.  Not a good beginning to the day.  In fact, I missed the beginning of the day.  School work with the kids ended with scoldings and time outs.  And as they thought about their actions, I thought about mine.  Would I insist that we resume (because we were not finished) or could we count the talks which were to come as learning.  Learning kindness and respect for each other is as important as learning math and history.  There are days which make themselves.  Days I have no choice but to rest upon God's promise that it will really be okay.  The two little ones seem extra tired.  Maybe, yes, it's just one of those days.  A day when I'm grateful for Five Minute Friday because it means only five minutes.  The baby is fighting sleep as I write this, fussing over naptime.  Because she really needs the rest.

  1. Although I do not have children, I can understand that dreaded feeling of being late...often sets the whole day off kilter, doesn't it. I loved that you brought up the point of resting in God's promise, for that is all we can ever realy do. Thanks for the reminder.

  5. I need to get a good night's sleep or I am grumpy and irritable the next day! I have also been going to bed a little earlier and waking up about 1/2 hour earlier than everyone else in the family and I truly love the quiet time I have by myself. I recommend it!

Thanks so much for linking this up to my Pinning & Singing Party. Your pictures were gorgeous and went beautifully with your post! I sure do hope you will join in again this weekend!

    Best wishes,
